November sure was a busy month. Two websites complete. Elisa Purls was completed and launched on time, at the beginning of December. Alot of the fun of working on came from the photo shoot that accompanied it. All of the images used in the design of the website were shot by yours truly, specifically for the website. Sometimes I absolutely hate being a jack of all trades. Other times, like this one, it really pays off. Poke around. She teaches burlesque classes and sells pasties. You can even get them custom made.

That’s right, fellas. Just when you thought you were gonna have to show your nips, Elisa Purls shows up with your custom man-nipple sized pasties to protect your honor. Or shame, whatever. Ladies, I guess you can buy pasties too. Somehow.

In other news, I just got another website via good old word o’ mouth. Shonna Donna Events hired me to give them a website to help them sell their AMAZING cupcakes. They don’t have a site yet, but you sure can check ’em out on Facebook. I’m really excited to create a design for them that uses a muted, yet colorful, palette to complement the look of the pastries. This is another one that requires me to do a shoot for the design, so we’ll see how it turns out. If your good, I’ll show you a little bit about my photographic process along with the results of the shoot. So behave!

I have a tiny bit of free time before the ball gets rolling on this one, so I’m going to use the time to tweak my own site design a bit, and try out some new tricks I’ve learned.

More soon.

I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving! Personally, I hate turkey, so, at the top of the list of things I’m grateful for is not eating it. Also, the second it turned midnight, I declared it to be Christmas! Time to get a tree!

In other news, one website down, one to go. And just days to go, too! The completed website was for weight loss and fitness training group, Get Tight Get Right. You can view it in action here. Or over here. It’s the same link, but some people like options. The was the first website I’ve created involving any sort of eCommerce, so I employed the use of a plugin, called WP Online Store. It’s very well rounded, with a solid backend (gasp!). There is so much to do back there, however, that I had a lot to communicate to the client. Maybe I’ll learn a little bit from that.

Other than that, all went well! Still trucking along with Elisa Purls new website, which is due to go live, next Friday. There is mockup version viewable on the Design page of my portfolio, but it is nowhere near current. Instead, here’s an image I’m working on for her site! Consider it a sneak peak!

I missed you, baby.

Hey, everybody! I have been so busy! How’s your mother? Anyhow, here’s what I’ve been up to. I redid my website, here at

“Oh, that’s neat, Gabe. I’ll take a look around.”

Oh, you! I knew you would say that. You’re always like that. You! Please do.

As some of you know, I’ve been photographing Friday nights at the Kiss Kiss Cabaret! I now have a massive portfolio of burlesque photography. So much, I had to take a step back. But they’re a great troupe, and I’m happy to call them family. There are a few pics up on the photography page, and there will be many more very soon. In the meantime, here’s an early Christmas present from me, to you. And if you don’t celebrate Christmas… then it’s an early… whatever.

Also, the entire month of November has been eaten by web design. I’ve been working on two websites, in their entirety this month. One should be done in a couple of days, and the other is scheduled for the first week of December. I’ll post more about them as each site goes live..

And finally, what happened to Kumquat? I lost a lot of work on that story, due to my big hard drive failure, but, never fear! In the coming weeks, I’ll be pulling Kumquat offline temporarily, finishing the artwork, and returning it finished and ready to read from digital cover to cover. I’m doing some research, and am hoping to also offer it as a free epub download, for you eReaders out there. In the meantime, there’ll be some new content everytime I find a moment. So look for that, soon. And I promise it won’t be as bad as that one month where all the comics weren’t funny (how embarrassing).

Anyway, more soon.

The Nikon D7000

cat frog.Hey everybody! just got my hands on a Nikon D7000, for nothing but a pocket full of change (and a lot more credit). this thing is awesome! full hd video, although only at 24fps, but that’s good enough for me! dual sd card slots, which can be used for double storage capacity or backup. the built-in flash works with Nikon’s Creative Lighting System (CLS), so you can use it to wirelessly trigger other nikon strobes set to slave mode.

another neat thing about the flash is the repeating flash function, accessible through the custom menu. i very much enjoy stroboscopic photography, but previously had just been tinkering around with an old party strobe i had laying around. with this option you can really control the number of flashes per shutter and nail down the exposure.

if you’re not familiar with what i’m talking about, the technique makes in-camera pictures like that whatever that is in that picture. that’s my cat mellon, posing for the camera like a pro.

ham sammiches!
